Why Will My Wolf Oven Door Not Close Flush?
The short answer
Compare the gap at each corner before anyone touches the door. One top corner opening while the bottom stays tight is a hinge spring that has lost its return, not a cabinet that has moved. Wolf Appliance Repair Denver reads the door against the cabinet face first: (720) 807-8323.
Why it does that
A hinge spring does not snap; it relaxes. It carries the door through the whole of its travel and holds it against the seal once shut, so as the return weakens the door begins to hang on its own weight. The top corner opens first, furthest from the pivot. A flush installation has no trim overlap to absorb that, which is why the joinery shows the fault long before the cooking does.
What to write down before you call
Close the oven onto a folded slip of paper, one corner at a time, and note where the slip slides back out with no grip on it. Then sight along the face of the door from the side and see which corner stands away from the plane. Two corners gripping and one free is geometry; nothing gripping is the seal.
The other two explanations
A seal gone hard holds the door off the frame all the way round, and that reads as a door which will not shut rather than one that hangs. A door leant on or used as a shelf while the kitchen was being finished arrives with its arms already bent, and no adjustment brings those back.
When it is a repair
What it turns out to be Parts and labour
- Door hinge, glass or seal
- $270–$710 Door hinge, glass or seal
Ranges, not starting prices — what moves inside one is the part and how far the oven has to come out of its column. The $89 diagnosis comes off the figure once you approve it.
