Ring first, read later
Three things not to sit on
-
gas you can smell
Shut the valve at the range, open a window, leave switches alone, then call from outside the kitchen.
-
oven dead mid-dinner
A fault code, a locked door or a cavity that will not heat. Say what the panel shows when you ring.
-
hood down over a live burner
Cooking without extraction in a sealed-up Denver house moves the problem into the rest of the house.
The line is answered 24/7. Technicians are out 8:00 am – 8:00 pm, seven days, so a call taken overnight is a slot booked for the morning rather than a van at 3am.
What we are called out for
Four repairs, one trade
Wolf cooking equipment and nothing else. A shop that also chases refrigeration leaks carries half the parts and twice the guesswork.
-
Range Repair
Wolf dual-fuel and all-gas ranges: ignition, high-altitude burner setup, oven cavity heat and control faults sorted in one visit.
- Burner ticks over and over on a cold morning before it catches
- Oven never gets past lukewarm while the cooktop works normally
- Flame either roars or drops out, with nothing usable in between
- Control panel shows a fault code and the oven refuses to start
-
Oven Repair
Built-in Wolf wall ovens, steam ovens and warming drawers — temperature drift, convection failures, door seals and locked-out boards.
- Bakes far longer than the recipe says and still comes out pale
- Convection blower howls at startup, then goes silent mid-roast
- Steam oven flashes a fill fault after years of hard Denver water
- Door will not release and the latch motor keeps buzzing
-
Cooktop Repair
Wolf gas, induction and electric cooktops and rangetops — spark modules, sealed burners, altitude orifices and touch controls.
- Induction zone shuts down as soon as a heavy pan sits on it
- Flames burn tall and yellow and soot the base of every pot
- A single element runs flat out regardless of where the dial goes
- Igniter carries on sparking with the flame already up
-
Range Hood Repair
Wolf hoods, inserts, liners and downdraft vents — blower motors, heat sensors, speed controls, baffles and duct airflow.
- Fan runs but the smoke still drifts into the next room
- Hood jumps to full speed by itself part way through cooking
- Growl or vibration that only shows up on the top setting
- Half the lights refuse to come on, and the rest flicker
Straight answers
Asked on the phone, most days
Do you only work on Wolf equipment?
Wolf cooking equipment is what this shop is set up for: dual-fuel and all-gas ranges, rangetops, gas, induction and electric cooktops, wall and steam ovens, warming drawers, hoods and downdrafts. Refrigeration is a different trade and a different parts shelf, so we say no to it rather than learn on your kitchen.
What does the visit cost before any repair?
A flat $89 service call covers the trip and the full diagnosis. It is credited against the repair if you go ahead. You hear the price for the work before anything is dismantled, and you can stop there.
Why does my burner behave differently in Denver than it did at sea level?
At 5,280 feet there is roughly 17 percent less oxygen in the same volume of air, so a burner metered for sea level runs rich: tall yellow flames, soot on the pans, sluggish simmer. Altitude orifice sets exist for this equipment, and fitting them with the air shutters adjusted is routine work in this city.
My steam oven throws a fill fault. Is that the water?
Usually, yes. Denver water is hard enough to scale a steam generator and its intake valve within a few years if the descale cycle has been skipped. That is a descale, sometimes a valve, and it is worth putting the cycle in your calendar afterwards.
Can you get a Wolf part or is it a special order?
Igniters, electrodes, spark modules, thermal fuses, sensors, hinge springs, door seals, blower wheels and the common control boards ride on the van. Anything past that is ordered the same visit and fitted on a second, shorter call — and we tell you which of the two you are looking at before you commit.
The oven is dead but the cooktop lights. Two problems?
Almost never. On a dual-fuel range the cooktop is gas and the oven is electric, so they fail independently — a working cooktop tells you the gas supply is fine and points the diagnosis straight at the oven side.
Before and after
The same call, from both ends
What a fault looks like when we arrive, and what has to be true before the van leaves. No photograph can show the second half of that, so it is written down.
Front burner of a pro-style range with the grate and cap lifted away, exposing the sealed burner base and its brass ports
-
Cooktop
On arrival
Flames stand tall and yellow, soot the base of every pot and refuse to settle to a simmer.
At handover
Altitude orifices fitted, air shutters set, every burner lit blue and held at its lowest usable setting before we pack up.
-
Oven
On arrival
Set to 350, baking like 300, and a cake that comes out pale after an extra twenty minutes.
At handover
Sensor read against a chart, calibration reset, then a full preheat and a thermometer on the middle rack while you watch it agree.
-
Hood
On arrival
The fan is loud, the kitchen still fills with smoke, and something growls on the top setting.
At handover
Blower wheel trued and rebalanced, mounts replaced, filters cleared, and the duct run checked as far as it can be reached from inside.
The price for the work is agreed before anything is dismantled — the $89 service call covers the diagnosis either way, and is credited against the repair if you go ahead.
Next step
tell us what it is doing
Model on the door, what the panel says, what the burner or the fan is actually doing. That is enough to bring the right part on the first visit.

Oven died halfway through a birthday cake and showed a code we could not clear. Blown thermal fuse. He also showed me the cooling vent behind the trim, packed with dust, and cleared it.

One element stayed on full whatever the knob did, which is unnerving with kids around. A relay had welded closed in the control. Found fast, changed, and he cycled every zone before writing it up.

The door had sagged and heat was escaping over the handle. Stretched hinge springs. New springs and a seal, and he set the door twice until it shut square against our 1920s cabinetry.

Where the van goes
Four neighbourhoods, four kinds of kitchen
A 1920s bungalow, a carved-up mansion and a new Cherry Creek condo ask for three different answers to the same fault. Knowing which one you are standing in saves a visit.
-
Cherry Creek 80206 Scraped bungalow lots rebuilt as townhomes and condos — compact kitchens, island hoods, 36-inch dual-fuel ranges. -
Washington Park 80209 1920s brick bungalows and Denver Squares with remodelled kitchens built around one serious range. -
Highland 80211 Victorian half-duplexes next door to LoHi new builds: small kitchens, long duct runs, ventilation that works hard. -
Capitol Hill 80203 Brick walk-ups and carved-up mansions where the galley kitchen and its vent were never sized for a Wolf.
