Two ways in

Speak to somebody, or take a slot yourself. Nothing on this site asks you to fill anything in, and nothing lands in an inbox: an oven out of action is worth two minutes on the phone rather than a thread nobody reads until Monday.

What to have ready

Five things decide which parts travel out, and therefore whether the diagnosis and the repair happen on the same visit.

  1. Model Open the door and read round the frame — the plate is on the appliance somewhere there. Give it exactly as printed.
  2. Column Built into joinery, stacked as a double, or the cavity under a cooktop. It changes the parts as much as the model does.
  3. Symptom What it does, not what you have decided it is. Pale baking, a fan that stops, a door that will not sit square.
  4. Panel Whatever is showing, word for word, and whether it clears when the power is pulled and put back.
  5. Pattern From cold only, after half an hour, every single time — when it happens narrows the list faster than anything else.

Ring at two in the morning and a person answers. What that buys you is a slot taken while you are on the phone, not a van on the driveway before dawn.

Cherry Creek, Washington Park, Highland and Capitol Hill.

  • New build, and the back burner had never lit without three or four goes. Two electrodes were sitting too far off the ports. He reseated them, cleaned the caps, and now it catches first click.

  • Motor hummed for a second and tripped out, over and over. A dragging bearing kept firing the overload. He swapped the blower inside a hundred-year-old chase without cracking the plaster.

  • Front burner clicked for a minute before catching, worse on cold mornings. The electrode was cracked and caked with old boil-over, and he changed the switch under the knob too. Two days to get an appointment is the only reason for four stars.
